Biography
Guillermo Tolentino, also known as Guillermo Estrella Tolentino, was a Filipino sculptor born in 1890 in Malolos, Bulacan, Philippines. He studied at the School of Fine Arts of the University of the Philippines, Manila. Tolentino is known for his work in sculpture and his pieces are exhibited at the National Museum of Fine Arts. He passed away in 1976 in Quezon City, Philippines. Throughout his career, he received numerous accolades including the UNESCO Cultural Award in Sculpture, Patnubay ng Sining at Kalinangan Award, Republic Cultural Heritage Award, Presidential Medal of Merit, Diwa ng Lahi Award, and the National Artist of the Philippines for Visual Arts in Sculpture.
